That was the best art documentary I have ever watched in my entire life. I highly suggest that everyone interested in art watch it. It is wonderfully inpirational: It already has my gears turning, and my head in my sketch book. Although Banksy's visual identity is not revealed, and I wasn't expecting it to be. However, the film does allow for an insightful glance into the workings of his mind, procedure, and over all nature.

The film follows a French store owner, obsessed with video taping his life, as he descends into the underground world of street art. It also then shows the audience from more of a third person point of view his career as an artist after his apprenticeships with Space Invader (his nephew), Shepard Fairey, and the ever elusive Banksy. An optimal candidate for the AVAM, Thierry Guetta transcended his life as a bored man in a stagnant career to M.W.B. or Mister Brainwash; one of the foremost progressive street artists in the world. Two thumbs way way up, and a must watch for all.

Exit Through the Gift Shop (Before)

Hello all. And by All I mean none. Because no body follows my blog, and well if they did, they might like what I'm about to talk about. Aujourd'hui je suis l'intellectual crème de l'intellectual crème. (Quote a dear friend of mine, speaking about and older peer at school who was acting like an ass on the L'Eleventh Grade Voyage à Québec!!! [If I remember correctly but the chances of that might be slim to none. .])

SO
I'm downloading right now this documentary called Exit Through the Gift Shop, featuring footage of the impecable Shepard Fairey and the mysterious Banksy. I also just realized for $4.99 on iTunes, one can rent a movie, and have it for 29 days! Whether you may watch it as much as you like for that 29 day period or if one has 29 days to watch it in it's entirety once, is alas a mystery to me. But anyway, I suspect this shall be a compelling documentary of recent street art, and those on its forefront. It's also rated R, which seems interesting to me. This shines a whole new light on my preconceived idea of the plot of this film, and filmography-wise nature of it as well.

I'm going to climb into bed and watch it, and you'll hear from me soon.
AU REVOIR TOUT LE MONDE!

[I intend for you, the reader, to have imagined me telling you all this whilst doing a Lisa Lampanelli impression.]

TODAY: I am queso chz...and at work with nothing to do. I work at a snack bar at a country club, and on days when its raining. I have to come in and sit until I'm told I can go home. Atleast I'm getting paid to do this shit.

TODAY: I went to a baby shower and remembered how much grand fun family functions are. HA. Mind you, to this baby shower I was given a ride by my dear great-grandmother. Scary as shit. That woman should not have her license any more. Before hand, threw this together. While doing this, I also...skyped with a friend, started downloading Melody A.M. (röyksopp album), finished a blanet, cleaned my kitchen, and played the piano. I get side tracked so easily. I love it.
listen to this. its amazing.

HEY YOU. You should really listen to these fellers because they kick major ass. They are Royksopp and they are amazing. One of my personal fave songs is "So Easy," which samples "Blue on Blue" by Burt Bacharach and Hal David. WHiiiiich was recorded in the 1960s by Gals & Pals. Willld right?! In short check it out. They have a jam master pandora station too.

I'm going to make hats for the rest of my life!

chapeau numero deux. for a girl that i work with. Made from yarn that was once the start of a sweater. Oh and this is funny....

NOTE: The only reason Obama is holding the arugula, is because the creator of this image wanted to mooch off of Shepard Fairey's tableau. Sehr gut, fellow artiste, sehr gut.
AND I think this is worth sharing, I have no idea where I found it, or where it came from, but it's beautiful.

k done bye.

TODAY: I made another hat. This one is just your average beanie with a loverly flower. I made it at work today, and actually sold two. Going $20 a pop. Wooo hoo. Here's to productivity, and nice things like flowered hats. I really want to make matching mittens with little flowers on the wrists. BAH theres a squirrel on my porch roof watching me. Notice in the bottom picture the crooked smile strikes again. Over and out!

TODAY I MADE A HAT. After untangling all of that yarn, which took me a better part of the afternoon, I was able to free some of this ridiculous teal-green-blue-purple shit. I used this to make this hat. :) Im making a little flower for it as we speak. I'll be sure to take a picture of it before its finished. I watched 100 Girls and 100 Women today while making this. Both are entirely worth the time, and a good laugh, as well as a wonderful gaze into the mind of a heterosexual man. Lets face it...there's really not much going on there. :P

Enlightenment.

I've decided what I'm going to do! A friend of mine told me I should really look into selling crocheted stuff. So I will! BUT FIRST! I must face the battle that is Miranda VS. Yarn 2010.
My grandmother recently moved and gave me a lot a lot a lot of yarn, but it's all tangled in this huge not, as shown above. I am now trying desperately to untie it.

BY THE WAY: This is my new favorite song, and I've just found the sheet music, so you can bet my ass is going to be planted on my piano bench for a better part of the evening. >

Peace out brussel sprouts.

YUM STRAWBERRIES

Here is an origami strawberry I made, after being provoked by a friend questioning my abilities. Suck it. :P
Okay, today most of my frustration comes from the fact that I do not have Adobe Flash CS4, and cannot afford it. Why didn't anyone think of the bone tool for CS3? Animating Alowishus would be exponentially easier if I had the newer one, but I can't get it because I have a version of the CS3 suite which does not permit me to update without receiving a lot of legal attention and fines. If you know what I'm saying...

I've also been feeling very restless lately and have been itching to make something new and exciting. I think I'll begin a quilt-like paper thing from magazine adverts. Maybe. I just know that I need something to do.

This is a little gouache landscape i did today. Just for shits and giggles. I didn't finish it because i was becoming too impatient. I'm debating adding ink to it. That final step usually makes or breaks the piece I feel, and by then its too late to salvage it. Blah.

Of late, I have been getting more and more into origami. Here's a modular thing I did from newspaper.

Hello my name is Alowishus.

This is Alowishus. I just thought him up the other day, and thought I'd throw him together on Illustrator. :)

la woodshoppe part deux

This is another 3D project. Once again from the second semester of my freshman year. It is a kinetic sculpture. The intention was for it to be an interactive music box. Because of some engineering flaws on my part, it didn't work as planned. It was supposed to play "Videotape" by Radiohead. It kind of does, but not as well as i'd hoped. I will not include the video, because it is in all actuality very anti-climactic. The best part about this project was that I did not drop a dime on it. Every part was a found object. The wood was from the scrap bin. The wheel is from my mother's bicycle.

la woodshoppe

This is a project I did for my 3D class, second semester of my freshman year at Tyler School of Art. It is a toutou fabricated entirely of wood, including the curved piece fitted around my hips. I would have liked the woven part to cover more of the structure, but due to time restrictions I was unable to. Speaking of which, that part is made of wood shavings made with a plane, straightened and woven together. It is modelled by yours truly. It turned out to be a performance piece, and I will post the video of it.

The project was to create an extension of yourself. I made a toutou because, despite the fact that I have chosen the visual arts as my course of study, I have recently become extremely interested in the performing arts as well. My mother has been a vocalist for most of her life, so I grew up with that influence.

For the performance, I used elastic to make myself look like a marionette (as best I could anyway). I sang "An Actors Life For Me" from Pinocchio. I found this to be a fitting song because it is about his aspirations of becoming a performer.

An Accurate Mind Overtaxed

This is a stop-motion video for my foundations computer class. The song is "Like Spinning Plates" by Radiohead. It's about going insane. Thanks to all of my wonderful friends who took the pictures while I painted my face for a few hours. :D
