Okay, today most of my frustration comes from the fact that I do not have Adobe Flash CS4, and cannot afford it. Why didn't anyone think of the bone tool for CS3? Animating Alowishus would be exponentially easier if I had the newer one, but I can't get it because I have a version of the CS3 suite which does not permit me to update without receiving a lot of legal attention and fines. If you know what I'm saying...

I've also been feeling very restless lately and have been itching to make something new and exciting. I think I'll begin a quilt-like paper thing from magazine adverts. Maybe. I just know that I need something to do.

This is a little gouache landscape i did today. Just for shits and giggles. I didn't finish it because i was becoming too impatient. I'm debating adding ink to it. That final step usually makes or breaks the piece I feel, and by then its too late to salvage it. Blah.

Of late, I have been getting more and more into origami. Here's a modular thing I did from newspaper.

Hello my name is Alowishus.

This is Alowishus. I just thought him up the other day, and thought I'd throw him together on Illustrator. :)

la woodshoppe part deux

This is another 3D project. Once again from the second semester of my freshman year. It is a kinetic sculpture. The intention was for it to be an interactive music box. Because of some engineering flaws on my part, it didn't work as planned. It was supposed to play "Videotape" by Radiohead. It kind of does, but not as well as i'd hoped. I will not include the video, because it is in all actuality very anti-climactic. The best part about this project was that I did not drop a dime on it. Every part was a found object. The wood was from the scrap bin. The wheel is from my mother's bicycle.

la woodshoppe

This is a project I did for my 3D class, second semester of my freshman year at Tyler School of Art. It is a toutou fabricated entirely of wood, including the curved piece fitted around my hips. I would have liked the woven part to cover more of the structure, but due to time restrictions I was unable to. Speaking of which, that part is made of wood shavings made with a plane, straightened and woven together. It is modelled by yours truly. It turned out to be a performance piece, and I will post the video of it.

The project was to create an extension of yourself. I made a toutou because, despite the fact that I have chosen the visual arts as my course of study, I have recently become extremely interested in the performing arts as well. My mother has been a vocalist for most of her life, so I grew up with that influence.

For the performance, I used elastic to make myself look like a marionette (as best I could anyway). I sang "An Actors Life For Me" from Pinocchio. I found this to be a fitting song because it is about his aspirations of becoming a performer.

An Accurate Mind Overtaxed

This is a stop-motion video for my foundations computer class. The song is "Like Spinning Plates" by Radiohead. It's about going insane. Thanks to all of my wonderful friends who took the pictures while I painted my face for a few hours. :D
